hi,
today I want to tell you something about idioms.

An idiom is a phrase but it is different from other phrases in that you can't understand it's meaning from the words it is made from.
English idioms are a group of words which have a meaning which isn’t obvious from looking at the individual words. To understand English, you have to be familiar with idioms. They have developed over time and so they might seem random to you. They’re used so often in everyday English, if you don’t know them, it’s almost impossible to understand the context.

Here are some English idioms and phrases that will enrich your English vocabulary and make you sound like a native speaker. For example:

Literally, hit the books means to physically hit, punch or slap your reading books. But It simply means “to study,” and is a way of telling your friends that you’re going to study.
And some others:

WHEN PIGS FLY – something that will never happen
SHAPE UP OR SHIP OUT: either start performing better or leave
ONCE IN A BLUE MOON: when something rarely ever happens
SHOOT FROM THE HIP: to speak directly
BE TICKLED PINK: to be excited and happy
SPEAK OF THE DEVIL –  the person you’re just talking about actually turns up at that moment.
NO-BRAINER: an easy decision

I hope you are TICKLED PINK to have learnt these idioms. Have you heard about some others?

Hi!

You have probably bad memories during school Phisical Education lessons, which were often exhausting and seemed  ridiculous to you. BUT: Do you know how sport participation affects our mental health?  Here is now.

  - mood and concentration: Sport stimulates production of endorphins so it can help you     avoid negative thoughts. You feel more relaxed and optimistic after a hard workout.

  - social benefits: sports teach you to interact with people, communicate with them and        collaborate as a team. Sports foster collective thinking. It learns  how to function as part of    a team. The team mindset leads to strong leadership qualities.

  - sleep habits: It helps you fall asleep faster and deepening your sleep. What is more,   sleeping better will improve your mental outlook the next day. Remember to not engage in   sports too late in the day. Evening practices may leave you too energized to sleep.

 - self-confidence:  playing sports is a safe place to make mistakes. They are a natural   occurrence in the game. Thanks to it you improve ability to remain composed, confident,   and consistent in the face of errors. You learn through failure.

aaaand your brain work better ;) :

Some fitness activities may be easy to start while you are a kid, but harder to maintain as an adult. So here you are, some fitness activities :

- take the stairs instead of elevator

- park a car away from your home or office but
remember that you will have to find it later ;)

- walk while talking on the phone

- turn on your favorite tunes and dance

Inspired by the last photo I am going to clean ;) and you, what sports do you play/like?

summer in the city

Winter Summer is comming

I love summer more than  other seasons mainly because I can finally  put my high heels !  :D
On sunny summer days  many cities look lovely. Parks which are oasis of calm, are the place where you can bring a blanket, lie on the grass and  get some rest, enjoy the sun and the singing of the birds. The sun makes us feel less stressed, happier and more carefree. We turn off television, put away video games and just get on out there.

I  love spending summer time in my hometown by napping  in a hammock in my garden and drinking smoothies. I really adore this season thanks to the gifts of fresh, juicy and vegetables.

Each year I make a new summer playlist, it's my tradition.

But aslso ! Sunny skies and rising temperatures provide many benefits to our health and wellbeing. Those are some of them:

1.We eat more fruit
2. Relieves skin complaints !
3. Reduces chance of heart attacks
4. Free Vitamin D
5. More opportunities for physical avtivity
6. Fresh air

have a nice day and enjoy the weather ! :)

THAILAND

Hi!

Today I want to share with you some information about Thailand!

 Capital:  Bangkok
 Currency:  Thai baht
 Language:  Thai
 Religion:  Buddhism

According to me Thailand is one of  the most amazing place on earth which offers huge number of attractions for a tourists. Here is why I’d love to go there:

   1.  BANGKOK:
I love cities where there’s always something to do. No matter what time of the day or night, you can always find something to do in Bangkok. Like New York, Bangkok is a city that never sleeps.

     2. STREET FOOD
In Thailand there are many places to eat good seafood. There are many small restaurants along the town’s main street, with tanks of live fish, prawns and crabs, shellfish.

   3. VEGETERIAN FESTIVAL PHUKET

It's a colourful event held over a nine-day period in October. People believe that abstinence from meat will help them obtain good health and peace of mind. The unusual rituals attract thousands of spectators, with participants piercing their skin with all manner of unusual objects. I guess it could be scarry or even distgusting for the tourist however it’s a part of their culture worth to watch.

  4.   TROPICAL ISLANDS AND LEGENDARY BEACH BARS

   5. THE WROLD'S PRETTIEST LAKE

Red lotus lake in bloom,  15km long and up to 5km

LANGUAGE & MUSIC

Learn language through music:

It is well known that music is very effective tool for learning a foreign languages. Some scientists think it is one of the activities that involves using whole brain.
English music is present in our daily lives and affect the way we learn. Through music huge waves of words and phrases around us. Learning through music can be more pleasant and effective than some teaching methods such as learning by heart. The passion for music can be the key to improving language. So why not use our favorite songs to learn?

Music as a memory technique:

Langue and music are both connected. The are associated with emotions.  They have rhythm, tone, melody etc. That's why songs create kinds of opportunities for making connections which is why they are easier to memorize without real effort.
Song's structure is what allows a person to recall the information it holds. Melody encourages repetition and meorization. It helps us retain words and expressions much more effectively.

How to get more effective results:

1. Choose the song you like.
2. Try to sing or hum without looking.
3. Look for words.
4. Listen to the song while reading the text.
5. Listen again and start singing.

Have a nice day !
